Hands down the most unique store in Mykonos is the Olive Tree. It has hand made olive wood products and natural skin care products. Immediately walking inside the little shop, you will be overwhelmed with an amazingly fresh and earthy smell. The store owner’s name is Katerina Tzima and her store has been opened since 2009. The olive tree means “the tree that feed the children.” She said that olive trees are among the oldest trees in the world, being grown before written language was invented. She also said that olive trees are a symbol of peace, health and virtue. There are little stories written on the walls all throughout the store. One says that the crowns of the winners of the Women’s and Men’s Marathon at the Olympics Games held in Athens in 2004 were cut from the ancient olive tree situated in Creke. Another has a Thomas Jefferson quote saying, “olive trees is surely the richest gift from heaven.”

The store has a variety of hand and body lotions, soaps, perfume, body scrubs, body butter, hair masks and other natural products. The store owner is very nice letting everyone try out all of the products. She goes into great detail explaining each one, ensuring you know exactly what ingredients are in the products and how to use them.

The majority of the store is filled with handmade olive wood products for mostly kitchen use. Some of the many olive wood products include: salad prongs, mini bowls, giant cheese boards, utensils, big serving spoons, wine corks, beer openers and other kitchen ware. Each piece is different in the color based on the cut from the tree. So, even if you get the same cutting board as your friend, the color of the wood is different making not one the exact same.

The customer service made the experience even better. This is another perfect store to get friends and family gifts. Instead of a touristy gift, you can bring your parents back a handmade serving bowl from Greece that will for sure be practical. The Olive Tree store is a must if you are in Mykonos. It is super easy to spot and very close to the main strip along the port. If you decide to get larger items, you can have them shipped anywhere in the world! You can easily spend over and hour talking to the store owner or deciding what to buy. Once you make your selection, you will most likely get a discount and even a free key chain!
