The Guide to Greek Spaghetti: Better than Italian?

Greece has a lot of pasta. You can easily have pasta for almost every single meal. For vegans and vegetarians, the food options can be pretty limited- either spaghetti or Greek salad. The Greek salad was never filling enough, so you will most likely end up eating spaghetti at multiple different restaurants. The spaghetti is to die for though, which is great or else vegetarians would be miserable in Greece eating only Greek salads. Here are a few of the best spaghetti dishes from different restaurants in Mykonos.

Mourayio Spaghetti: 6/10

Mourayio is a small restaurant in downtown Mykonos where they mostly serve seafood, so my expectations for the spaghetti weren't too high. Overall, this dish is better than you would expect, based on aesthetics. The sauce was flavorful and the pasta had the perfect bite to it. It wasn't anything fancy, but it was definitely a solid bowl of pasta. You can find good pasta even at a seafood restaurant, so just imagine how amazing the pasta is at actual pasta or Italian restaurants in Greece.

Tropicana Club Spaghetti: 8/10

The spaghetti at Tropicana Beach Club was a pleasant surprise. Tropicana is located on Paradise Beach and is known for its wild parties. You may not expect the food to be that great, but it was actually phenomenal. The service was also very fast, which is always a plus. The spaghetti itself was very well-seasoned, so you can't really go wrong. The only downside is the place itself, which is loud and a little crazy if you go in the afternoon, so making conversation at the table is nearly impossible. Luckily the food was great, and the elaborate drinks were also nice touch.

Kavos Spaghetti: 9/10

Kavos definitely lived up to the expectation one would have of a restaurant in Mykonos. With a stunning waterfront view and relaxed atmosphere, Kavos is one of the best restaurants in Mykonos. The plating alone of the spaghetti was far better than any other restaurant, and the flavor was just as great.

One thing you may noticed about the spaghetti in Greece and just the food in general is how simple it is. These dishes are really just pasta and tomato sauce, yet it is prepared so carefully that the taste is absolutely divine. Is it better than Italian spaghetti? That is up to you to decide, but the competition might be closer than you think.
