You can spend three hours or 30 minutes at the Roman Baths, it all depends on you. The Roman Bath is a self-guided tour of the ancient building. There is the option of a guided tour once inside the museum.
The Roman Bath was discovered during the late 19th century and is approximately 1.6 m deep. The bath was hidden, as buildings were constructed on top of it. It wasn’t until 300 years ago it was found that ruins were under the newly built structures.
The Roman Bath went through two golden periods and it was during those periods that hot springs were discovered. The hot springs at the baths are the only hot springs in the United Kingdom. The hot springs are still hot today and you can see steam being let off from them.

The Roman Bath is approximately 107 miles from central London. During the 19th century, bathing was considered a social event. It was where people went to relax and for spiritual worship. The original structure of the bath contained a cover over the bath itself but over time the covering was destroyed and the bath is directly exposed to sunlight.
