Picking a vacation destination can prove difficult when children are involved. You have to take into consideration activities for them that they will enjoy. The ZSL London Zoo is easily enjoyable for both adults and children, making it a definite stop on a trip to London.

The ZSL London Zoo is the world's oldest scientific zoo opening on April 27, 1828. It is located in Regents Park London, NW1.

The zoo has a vast variety of animals. There are about 20 holding areas for the animals and they are separated into different groups, based on characteristics. Guests can take maps at the front where they enter that may help guide them through the zoo. There are live performances with the animals that take place throughout different times the day in different areas of the zoo.

Gorilla Kingdom:

Area where the Gorillas and Eastern Black-and-White Colobus are kept.

The Aquarium:

Fish, coral and other species that are inside the aquarium.

The Penguin Beach:

Penguins swimming in the Penguin Beach.

The Petting Area:

Some of the animals that are allowed to be pet.

The zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. during April 1 to Sept. 3 and 10 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. during Sept. 4 to Oct. 20.

There are four eateries at the zoo where people can take a break and have something to eat. Also, there are five souvenir shops throughout the zoo where people can shop.

Ticket Pricing:

-Adults: 24.30 pounds online and 29.75 pounds at the gate.

-Children ages 3 to 15: 18 pounds online and 22 pounds at the gate.

-Children under age 3 are free.

Fun fact: A scene from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was filmed at the ZSL London Zoo during September and November 2001.
