Kensington Gardens Beyond the Palace


Kensington Palace has been home to generations of royals since 1899 when Queen Elizabeth II owned the property. Now it is home to THE Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate with other royals among them.

To get an inside peek at the royal palace, guests can purchase tickets online ahead of time. For children and members, there is no cost. For adults, tickets run at £15.50. It's important to note that entrance fees at the gate are slightly more expensive if you want to purchase tickets on the day you visit.

If you're looking for a more laid-back day, though, skip the palace tour and hang out in the beautifully manicured gardens.

The palace sits on 265 acres of green space open to Londoners and tourists alike. This area, known as, Kensington Gardens is one of eight Royal Parks in the capital, and was originally considered a part of Hyde Park.

The park is family friendly, and perfect for a picnics or a mid-day stroll. It contains several memorials in the form of statue, such as the Albert Memorial most notable for its' intricate design, as well as the popular Diana, Princess of Wales playground.

The Italian Gardens, near the north side of the park is perfect for the young couple. It is said that the space was a gift from Prince Albert to Queen Victoria, and if you look carefully the initials V&A can be spotted on some of the architecture. Watch out for the giant swans!

Kensington Gardens also features several cafes and places where guests can rent bicycles. You'll find a slice of simplicity in the gardens when you visit!

The 150-year-old Italian Gardens contains several fountains and newly-restored designs.
