Imagine what it might be like to eat lunch a top a treehouse. Branches and leaves are all around you while you can peer over the edge and watch life below you. This is how dining at the relatively new restaurant, Squirrel will make you feel. Squirrel is a casual all-day eatery that features one of the healthiest menus in London. The eatery provides overlooking booths, which give you a view of all the commotion of the restaurant on the ground floor. Tree trunks are painted on the walls, fake trees and green lighting create the treehouse-like atmosphere where a squirrel might hang out.

Squirrel opened its doors in July of 2016. The eatery is situated across the street from the South Kensington underground station. The owners
of the Italian-themed bar Bunga Bunga, Charlie Gilkes and Duncan Stirling, teamed up with their wives to offer the healthy dining option that South Kensington needed. One of the wives, Zoe Stirling, used her experience as a nutritionist to select specific items in the making of Squirrel’s menu.

Squirrel provides all fresh and organic ingredients. Its menu features four grain bowls, four nutrition-packed salads, two seasonal specials and two daily specials. All of which are 8.25-8.50 pounds. As far as drinks go, Squirrel offers a variety of health drinks including turmeric lattes, matcha lattes, superfood juices and four fresh smoothies. To go with their healthy brand, Squirrel also embraces non-alcoholic drinks.

Unfortunately, there’s only one Squirrel currently open, but the owners hope to expand in the next few years. Study abroad student, Taylor Torok, is vegan and thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant. The eatery caters to each individual’s dietary needs and preferences, making it a unique gem in the midst of all the fancy restaurants in London.
